Winter RELEASE NOTES
Winter is nearly here, and we’ve lined up a new selection from My Favorite Neighbor just for you. Whether you’re planning cozy nights in or hosting holiday feasts, this collection has you covered with four wines that capture the best of our latest harvests. You will be among the first to taste our Chardonnay from the standout 2023 vintage. We are also excited to share two newly released vineyard designates from our friends and neighbors here on the westside. And last but not least is our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, the ultimate crowd pleaser for your holiday gatherings. May these wines bring joy to your table as you celebrate with friends and family.
Chardonnay
MFN Chardonnay comes from very coastal vineyard sites not far from Paso Robles, where prevailing marine conditions deliver everything that a Chardonnay should be—fine minerality with beautiful midpalate density, freshness, and gorgeous flavors of citrus and stone fruit. The 2023 vintage presents inviting aromas of quince, apple and toasted brioche. An up-front fruit character floods the palate with apricot, pineapple, green melon and ginger notes. Crisp minerality and hints of toasted oak emerge on an elegantly balanced finish. A perfect white for holiday entertaining.
Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2022 My Favorite Neighbor is everything you’ve come to expect from our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from our favorite Paso Robles growers who lend their neighborly spirit to the wine. Effusive aromas of raspberry and currant reveal notes of blue fruit and purple flower. On the palate, juicy red fruits are interwoven with hints of black cherry, cinnamon and toasted oak. Structured tannins carry into a long, chewy finish. Whether it’s a casual backyard barbecue or a fine celebratory meal, this versatile wine has you covered for summer and beyond.
Petit Verdot (84%), Cabernet Sauvignon (13%), Cabernet Franc (2%) and Petite Sirah (1%)
In true neighborly fashion, Moonsprings Vineyard owners Lynn and O’Neal Gray “came into town quiet and unassuming, letting their actions and their vineyard do the talking,” says Eric Jensen. The result is an emerging superstar vineyard in the Templeton Gap District. The 2022 blend from Moonsprings Vineyard opens with notes of dark cherry, plum and lilac. The mouthfeel is rich and expansive, showing dark fruits, mid-palate sweetness and hints of sage that unfold into an exceptionally long finish. An excellent match for a hearty winter meal.
Cabernet Franc (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (28%) and Petit Verdot (17%)
Our Chalk Block blend comes from some of the most intensely calcareous soil profiles found in Paso Robles, producing a wine of exceptional energy and complexity. The 2022 vintage marks the second and last of only two bottlings we produced from this site, so collect it while you can. The nose is flush with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and brioche. Vivid red fruits are joined by bright acidity and sweet oak notes on the palate, while firm gravelly tannins promise staying power in the bottle. A “wow” wine for your holiday table.
